rapid-mockup workshop

Barstool

A four-day barstool workshop with Stefan Diez

Codesigner - Fredrika Hansson

April 2016 / Lund, Sweden

In this workshop, we focused on validating our concept to 1:1 scale models and to a functional mockup for the final presentation. It was a cool experience that we learned to use steel tubes to mock up rapidly.

Our barstool is for one or two or even more people when hanging out together. Imagine that you are in a bar with two other friends and you can only sit in a row facing the bartender instead of facing your friends. It is not comfortable to talk with friends like that. Therefore, we came up with this one-third-circle shape barstool where you can gather friends. You can sit inside or just stand outside there is no orientation and how you should use it.

Stefan showed us how they did when they need to bend steel tubes in their studio. You just simply make cuts on the tube and it becomes easy to bend just by hand. After you shape the shape you want, you just weld the cuts together to make it solid not wobbly.
